Description

TB-500 is a synthetic research peptide based on the biologically active region of Thymosin Beta-4 (TB4), a naturally occurring peptide involved in cellular structure and repair-related processes. The native thymosin beta-4 molecule is a 43–amino acid peptide with the sequence:

and is commonly reported to have a molecular weight around ~5 kDa with an isoelectric point near 5.1.

TB-500 is designed to reflect the key functional portion of thymosin beta-4—particularly the region associated with actin binding. This actin-related activity is important in research because actin regulation influences cellular migration, structural organization, and mechanisms involved in tissue remodeling.

In experimental models, TB-500 has also been studied for activity linked to anti-fibrotic response mechanisms, including observations involving modulation of signaling pathways such as Akt-related activity.
